Trade The Journey

Trade The Journey

Practice makes Perfect!

Trading? There comes a point where you have to trust the information you have learned and gathered. At first, I thought that if I just knew a little bit more I’d be ready to trade. The problem is that there will never be enough information available for you to predict which way the market will turn.

Experience can be a harsh teacher. Although reading has provided me with a solid understanding of the financial system, “experience” will be my new teacher.

I’ve opened a account at thinkorswim which is a trading/investing platform by TD Ameritrade.

This is the first platform I have decided to learn and gain my experience with. I am sure there are other trading platforms that provide an equal or better experience but for right now, I’m sticking to thinkorswim.

A paper trade account is an account that allows you a certain amount of fake money to practice trading with. Its a demo account, the trades will not affect your pockets.

Opening a paper trading account should be the first step for investors/traders seeking to learn how the market moves. I like most tried my luck in the real market before practicing by paper trading because its easy to do. There are no requirements or qualifications needed to invest your money. Most times you end up paying for learning experiences.

Although paper trading isn’t the same as trading with real money and the pressure that comes with it, you still can get a feel for the market. The most surprising aspect of the market is how fast it moves. Its similar to the experiences of college players entering into the professional leagues for the first time. Its the “pace” of the professional leagues that’s hardest to adjust to.

The pace of the market caught me off guard in my first trade. So for the next couple of months, I’ll be trading and learning hoping to enter the market at my own pace.

Practice makes Perfect! Well as close to perfect as we can get.
